Barnum Rail-Trail

The little gem of a trail runs along the North Branch Potomac River. Wide open spaces, a lake, and cool rock formations are all found nestled in mountainous terrain. But, being a rail trail, it is flat and easy to travel. It’s only a little over 4 miles long, but the trail is only accessible from one end. So the journey out and back is about 8.5 miles.

The Barnum Rail-Trail is supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy.  There are many other cool places to explore near-by, Deep Creek Lake, several State Parks, whitewater rafting, and plenty of more places to hike– all a short drive from Cumberland, Md and a little further the other way to Morgantown, WV

The Doggeo Cache location is in a crevice of rocks just off the trail from the map point below. happy hunting!
